What is Morning Star Camp? The Bright and Morning
Star’s Camp is a non-profit effort of family and friends reaching
out to multiple needs. It is dedicated to the Creator of the
Heavens and Earth, The Bright and Morning Star, Our Lord Jesus
Christ.
"...that by two unchangeable things, in
which it was impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong
encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set
before us, which we have as anchor of the soul, both secure and
firm, and entering into that within the veil, where Jesus is entered
as forerunner for us..." Hebrews
6:18-20 (Dby)
Morningstar Camp runs for
two weeks during the summer. Located just
outside of the Grand Teton National park, half an hour from Jackson
Hole, Wyoming, camp is set up in full view of the spectacular Mt.
Moran. Plenty of exciting activities are available, including white
water rafting down the Snake River, as well as the more relaxing
scenic float trips, hiking trips, and horseback rides into the
beautiful forest surrounding camp. There are
plenty more options to do on your own or with a group from camp,
such as touring Yellowstone National Park, rock climbing, (some
great places close by) overnight camping or hiking trips, fishing,
and much more.
Bright and Morning Star camp originally began as a camping
trip with family, as well as an opportunity for outreach to
youth. Over the years, it grew with invitations to other
family and friends, and continues operating this way to this
day. Invitations are sent to those who have attended, and are
sent or passed on to others who might be interested in
attending. Bright and Morning star camp is not an institution of
any kind and is affiliated with no religious sect or
denomination. It is an outreach for various needs which continue
to grow and change over the years, as well as a chance to simply
enjoy the beauty of the mountains and the many attractions of
the area with family and friends. The Jonathan LaBenne family
hosts the event under a non profit status with help from family
and friends. There are no paid employees or positions and all
provisions come unsolicited nor are they even announced as
needs. There has never been a single charge for services of any
kind nor solicitation for help with costs of any kind.
Mission Statement Bright and Morning Star
Camp is an exercise that began in a not very able, but a willing and
chosen heart at the age of fifteen. Isaiah 41:9-14. Since then, it
has come into many other willing hearts, who have been called by the
Bright and Morning Star. It has had three names since the day it was
first realized and put into practice. Those three names bear out its
full purpose. The first name was, "Rest a While Ranch". The second
was, "Kadesh" named for the Mountain City of Refuge. The third is
after The One who indeed has orchestrated all, our soon coming Lord
Jesus Christ, who is the Bright and Morning Star.
Four purposes have
been clearly established for this camp...
First: REFRESHMENT ~To refresh and encourage
by occupying the heart with the Lord Jesus.
Second: REFUGE ~To
provide refuge to those who are hurting, in a place of
retreat.
Third: RESTORATION
Fourth: REDEMPTION ~To reach out to the lost
with the wonderful Gospel of God's Grace through the Bright and
Morning Star, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Bright and Morning Star
Camp has been neutral ground provided by the Living God of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob. It is not a ground of compromise, but offers, like
the cities of refuge, an avenue of safety and retreat - retreat to
the Bright and Morning Star. God indeed knows the hearts, we do not. In obedience to Him, we ask that He overrule;
that He allow every soul who comes to camp to be there according to
His purposes. God has His fingerprints all over this camp. We do not
know where you fit in as God does, but if you come we will know that
you are in the center of His purposes at camp. You might be part of
the help, or you may be with us for much needed rest and
encouragement. You are targeted by the eye of
God, as are we all who attend. You are here by the promise of one
who can not lie. Hebrews
